Description


“Tied Foam Core Technology” is a foam reinforcing technology. Needle like pins are generated in the foam by application of a modified sewing technique and resin infusion of the inserted dry fibers.
As base material any foam and fiber can be used together with compatible resin materials for infusion. The core performance can be easily modified by variation of pin density and pin orientation.
By applying this reinforcing technology the local mechanical properties can be adopted to the mechanical requirements in an extremely weight efficient way. Additionally the damage tolerance under impact loading can be improved. Appearing damages are localized, debonding in the facesheet – core transition region cannot appear.
