Optimizing descent & approach trajectories considering aircraft ageing
It's not a surprise that years-old aircraft have different operating performances that when they first entered service. When today aircraft's FMS (flight management system) bases the descent trajectory and predictions on how the aircraft performed, PICTO will gather descent information in a web-based platform that will allow providing specific, optimized descent trajectories for each individual aircraft. As a result of this innovation, airlines may soon start realizing significant fuel savings and thepayoffs could be considerable (an A320 could save up to 70kg of fuel per flight).
